A trip to the Netherlands
During the last weekend I visited my friend Jeroen Janssen at his new place in the Netherlands. It was a great 4 days vacation with warm and sunny weather. Jeroen is also known as Xan on different robotic forums and Xanore on his YouTube channel. Jeroen has contributed a lot to the robotic community by sharing his BAP Phoenix code for controlling the Phoenix hexapod, the code can be downloaded from Jeroen's project page at Lynxmotion. Jeroen got so inspired by the Phoenix hexapod that he decided to make his own exact copy of my original Phoenix. Here are two pictures for comparing, first the original and then Jeroen's replica named BlackWido:

We had a great time together and I've never spoken to anyone so much about robotics before. Its always inspiring to meet and talk to people that share your interests. Quoting Jeroen: "Share, Use and Improve", thats a very good description of how most of the robotic community works. By sharing your work like Jeroen did with his work on the Phoenix code he also gave several other roboteers like myself the opportunity to try out different ideas without needing to "reinvent the gunpowder".
Here is a picture of Jeroen and I, where I hold Jeroen's BlackWido:

Hi Kåre,
Lovely to read about the trip to the Netherlands. We had a good time doing some siteseeing and especially talking about robots and sharing ideas! It is very fun (and rare) to talk about robotics and jump directly into the deepest detail. Non-robotic-builders always get overloaded when talking about robotics more then 30 min.
Both Esther and I enjoyed your stay. Feel free to revisit the Netherlands to try the TT.
Ha det bra!
Jeroen

Very cool post. I follow you both on the various forums (primarily Lynxmotion's). Quite inspiring, and makes me wish I lived across the Atlantic. It's cool you got to meet in person.
